The contemporary arms are those of Knatchbull, as borne by the Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Knatchbull, 9th Bt. (1781-1849). He was M.P. for Kent, later for East Kent and served as Paymaster General from 1834-35 and 1841-45. The later arms are those of Proby quartering Allen, as borne by the Earls of Carysford.
