Notts County won the Division 3 (South) Championship in season 1949-50 with 58 points, Northampton Town being runners-up on 51 points.
Frank Henry Broome was born in Hertfordshire on 11th June 1915 and joined Aston Villa in November 1934. Whilst with Villa he won a Division 2 Championship medal in season 1937-38 and played for England at full International level on seven occassions between 1938 and 1939. In 1946 he joined Derby County and in October 1949 he joined Notts County. Thereafter there were periods with Brentford, Crewe Alexandra, Shelbourne and in 1955 he became the assistant trainer at Notts County. He briefly became manager and assistant manager at County in 1957 before joining Exeter City as manager/coach in 1958. He became Southend United manager in 1960 and from July 1961 to 1967 he coached abroad for clubs including Bankstown (New South Wales), Corinthians (Sydney), Melita Eagles (Sydney), before joining Exeter City again as manager in 1967.
