Leslie Dennis Medley an outside-left possessing a good shot was born in Lower Edmonton, London on 3 September 1920 after spells of school football he joined Tottenham Hotspur as an amateur in 1935 before turning professional in February 1939 after almost seven years with the club he emigrated to Canada in 1946 were he assisted with a two of the local Toronto clubs, he returned to England in 1948 and rejoined Tottenham Hotspur for a second and more successful time culminating in back-to-back championships, 1949-50 and 1950-51 (see lots 1 and 2) and at the same time making six full International appearances for his country (see lot 4 and lots 6 to 11). He left Tottenham Hotspur for a second time in 1953 and had a brief spell as player/coach with Rabdfontein F.C. in Johannesburg
