Oblong and on four stud feet, with moulded borders and two hinged bracket handles, with double hinged covers, one cover revealing two detachable inkwells with glass liners and a central compartment, the other revealing a detachable wooden pen-tray, one cover engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on side, base, covers, handles and inkwells, the base stamped 'GARRARD & CO LTD ALBEMARLE ST LONDON W'
