A SIOUX BEADED AND QUILLED HIDE POUCH
of rectangular form with buffalo hide overflap and handle, decorated on the front with a stepped diamond enclosing a cross in red, green, purple and yellow-dyed porcupine quillwork, the reverse, with narrow bands against the hide ground painted with yellow ochre, sinew sewn and lane-stitched beadwork in numerous shades of opaque and translucent beads along one side and encircling the top, the flap and handle with similar decoration, a panel of quill-wrapped slats and fringe at bottom, trimmed with metal cones inserted with green-dyed horse hair

Collected on the Lower Brule Reservation by the Rev. Luke C. Walker in the early 1870s. Gifted to David W. Clark, Jr.
