QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
The palette is carved as a curled lotus leaf finely detailed at the rim with a carp and a flower emerging from a bundle of stems. The stone is of a apple green tone with lighter green inclusions.
2 1/4 in. (5.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Compare to a water pot carved with peach blossoms, possibly made of jadeite, included in the Guwan tu, Pictures of Ancient Playthings, scroll 6, in the Percival David Foundation, currently housed at the British Museum London.ish Museum London.
An identification report from Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory Limited confirms that the present lot is natural green jadeite.
