    Lot Essay

The sinuous form and richly carved ornamentation of this table relate closely to an other example, now at the Monte di Pietà, Naples (A.P. Murano, Il mobile Napoletano del settecento, Naples, 1977, pl. XXIII). The present table shares many similar features as the example in the Monte di Pietà.

A related table was sold from the collection of Baronessa Jacobea Sapuppo, Christie's, Milan, 10-11 May 1999, lot 314. A further silvered example, with pierced frieze, was sold Sotheby's, London, 10 June 1999, lot 92. A larger giltwood table with similar features was sold Christie's King Street, 11 May 2000, lot 67.
