A Steiff teddy bear
with cinnamon mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads, hump and FF button in ear, circa 1909 --16½in. (42cm.) high (hand pads recovered, feet pads replaced, very slight general wear and discoloured)
Fred belonged to the vendor's uncle, Fred Daniels, who was of Ukrainian descent. His parents came to Canada in 1900. Fred was born in 1909 in Brandon, a small town outside of Winnipeg. He died in December 1993.
