These chairs share certain characteristics with seat-furniture still at Woburn which is probably attributable to Mayhew and Ince. These may be identifiable with the '4 Square back japan'd Chairs, neatly turned, back & seat Caned, japan'd to correspond with the Bed..and 2 with elbows. & 2 fine linen Cushions filled with best burnished hair and quilted 11.0.0' supplied for the Bed Chamber next door to 'Lord Maynard's Apartments...sent to Wooburn for East Front' on 30 June 1791. The bed was 'a Four post lath bottom Bedstead, Pillars neatly Turned, the sides shaped and Pateras to cover the screw holes...vases at top ....the whole neatly Japan'd, Ornamented & Varnished Complete'.
