A SUITE OF ITALIAN SIMULATED PORPHYRY, POLYCHROME-DECORATED AND PARCEL-GILT FURNITURE
Circa 1800
Comprising: A pair of open armchairs and a gueridon, the armchairs of Grecian form, with a tablet toprail centred by a foliate-decorated panel, above a dished seat and squab covered in striped yellow silk, the turned arms on lion-monopodia supports continuing into the U-shaped seat-rail, on square tapering legs with paw feet, one stile with break; the gueridon with simulated scagliola circular top with central monogram 'ML' surrounded by foliate borders on yellow and pink ground, above a foliage-banded frieze, on four lion monopodia supports joining into a baluster column and with serpentine legs with paw feet, refreshments to decoration on both armchairs and gueridon
The gueridon, 30 in. (77.5 cm.) high; 27 in. (70.5 cm.) diam. (3)
