A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Geneva, circa 1800, with prestige marks, struck with inventory number 2953, later struck with two French import marks for gold 1864-1893
Octagonal box, the cover, sides and base enamelled in opaque sky blue within a red paillon border, the cover furthermore enamelled with three opalescent reserves, that in the centre circular, painted with a sacrifice at an altar, flanked by two lozenge shaped reserves painted with musical putti, the borders enamelled in translucent red and gold paillon wavescrolls interspersed with flowerheads, bright-cut gold rims
