A SWISS PARCEL-ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Geneva, circa 1790, bearing prestige marks, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Oval box, the cover, sides and base engine-turned with reeding and framed by translucent blue enamelled guilloché bands flanged by white enamel bands, the cover inset with a raised cast gold profile of a bearded classical philosopher set on a translucent blue guilloché enamel ground within white enamel surround and gold frame, the four side pilasters enamelled en taille d'épargne in white and translucent blue as columns
