A SWISS TWO-COLOUR GOLD BONBONNIÈRE SET WITH AN ENAMEL
Geneva, circa 1780, bearing 'prestige marks' including a shell resembling the discharge mark of Eloy Brichard, later struck with two French import marks for gold 1864-1893
Circular box, the independent cover and base engine-turned with concentric reeding, the lid centred by a circular enamel miniature depicting a young Oriental gentleman seated in a landscape and playing the balalaika to a young lady in pink dress, within a reeded border, the sides similarly engine-turned with horizontal reeding, the sablé borders chased with foliate garlands twisted with dotted bands
