One side of body with inscription: Dewey Manila May 1st 1989. The other side with poem:
Freedom's viking of the seas,
Whose battle banners stood unfulr'd
Far far beyond the Carribees
And signaled victory to the world
You carred safe thro' smoke and flame
The emblem that we have today,
And 'mong its bright stars wrote your name,
Far, far above Manila Bay
A bumper, then we drink to you,
And pledge the man who won the Bay
And kept the Nation's honor true
Where in their pride the foemen lay;
The brightest page our history bears
Is that inscribed by laureled Fame,
And one at the top appears
The glowing presence of your name
The engraving under the base reads:
"SPEAK WELL OF THE TOWN YOU LIVE IN"
"SPEND YOUR MONEY AT HOME"
