Mid 17th Century, the mount 18th century
The slightly tapering cylindrical sides painted with a continuous moonlit garden landscape depicting an attendant offering a book to a scholar, between a lappet and scroll border around the base and rim, silver-gilt swing cover with thumb-piece and spout apparently only struck with Dutch duty mark
