That example has six petals. The authors note, "This design is said to be taken from the bloom of the kui flower, or mallow, of which hibiscus is one variety. It is found on ceramics from Jingdezhen and Yixing and on a variety of hardstones, including snuff bottles in nephrite and other materials. This particular version of the design is apparently known as fengjuankui (mallow curling in the wind) and the distinguishing feature, apart from the floppy outer petals, is a cross-hatched center sometimes surrounded by a circle of small petals"
