a venetian enamelled tazza
16th century
The centre enamelled in yellow, green and blue with a lion standing on a mound beneath a sun with radiating rays and a river at its feet, within a circular white and iron-red cartouche and a border of gilt fan-ornament enriched with blue, green, iron-red and white dots, on a baluster knopped stem with merese and conical spiral-twist foot (the enamels slightly worn)
15.8 cm. (6 1/4 in.) diam.
