A VERY RARE IMPERIAL CARVED THREE-COLOR LACQUER STAND
QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820)
Well carved in high relief as two dragons rising from roiling green waves as they contest a flaming pearl amidst clouds through which swoop five bats, the wufu, all below a vase-shaped finial carved around the sides with lotus scroll and on the top of the everted rim with a band of petal lappets, the whole raised on a shaped, waisted base carved with bands of petal lappets, key fret and floral scroll, and with bats amidst clouds on the apron, all in dark yellow, dark green and red lacquer

Lot Essay

This rare and large lacquer stand may very likely have been the base to hold a long-poled fan in the palace.
