A Vienna gold-ground topographical cabinet plate, 1818, blue shield mark, impressed date code and 30, tilted in black script, the frame 19th Century
Painted by Schufrid with a view named on the reverse in black script, Vue de la ville de Vienna prise du château du Bélvédére., with promenading figures before fountains in gardens, signed, within a rectangular canted cartouche and a ciselé garland of ivy, the border edged with a band of ciselé foliage vitruvian scrolls between matt gilt bands, with carved wooden frame (some slight scratching to gilt boarder at 12, 1 and 10 o'clock)
9 5/8 in. (24.5 cm.) diam.
By repute a gift from the Archduke of Austria to Sir Thomas Lawrence and by descent in the family to the present owner.
