The baluster body painted with the seven sages of the bamboo grove divided into three scenes illustrating various scholarly pursuits, including playing the qin, playing weiqi and the study of paintings, all framed within graceful bamboo and clouds and set between a lappet band below and a ruyi collar and ruyi border on the shoulder above, the waisted neck encircled by detached cloud scrolls
