INDENTLieutenant Albert Ernest Morgan, born 1889, educated at Summerfields, Oxford and at Westminster, was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Fusiliers May 1911 and was advanced to Lieutenant June 1913; he was appointed to the Royal Flying Corps, September 1913 and was employed as Assistant Instructor at Upavon Flying School until he proceeded to the Front December 1914 (Royal Aero Club certificate No. 547). Lieutenant Morgan and his Observer were killed in action whilst directing artillery fire during the Battle of Neuve Chappelle 10 March 1915; their aircraft was brought down by enemy shell fire. They were buried in the Royal Irish Rifles Cemetery, Laventie, France.
Lieutenant Morgan was Mentioned in Field Marshal Sir John French's Despatch, 31 May 1915 'For gallant and distinguished service in the field.'
