A very similar Hebei marble Eastern Wei standing figure dated 541 A.D. excavated from Xiudesi, Quyang xian, Hebei Province in 1954, is illustrated by Matsubara, Chogoku Bukkyo Chokoku Silun (illustrations), vol. 1, pl. 259. The stylistic features inherited from the Northern Wei tradition have been modified considerably. Cf., ibid., pl. 175 for a marble Buddha in similar stance excavated from the same site dated 520 A.D. where the triangular silhouette is offset by more complex rhythmic pleats and drapery folds. The higher usnisa, larger head and fully articulated lotus base are new features introduced in the Eastern Wei period.
