The case with foliate tied handle to re-gilt basket top, flanked by later flambeau finials, glazed sides with later gilt repoussé mounts, on brass bun feet, the 7in. (17.5cm.) square brass dial with silvered chapter ring, the matted centre with central alarm disc and three winding holes, blued steel hands (hour hand partially lacking), winged cherub spandrels, latches to the dial feet and to the six ringed pillars of the twin gut fusee movement, with later anchor escapement, partially re-built strike train, the alarm barrel and one wheel remaining of the alarm train, pull quarter repeat now removed, the backplate engraved with tulip heads amongst scrolling foliage and signed within a foliate cartouche Edwardus Burgis Londini Fecit, with turn screws securing the dial to the case and later backplate securing brackets
