The prototypes of 1656 with the sitters in the opposite direction, oil on canvases, 99.2 x 81.6 cm, are in a Dutch private collection.
Jan Baptista Hochepied, son of Daniel Hochepied and Catharina van der Merckt, was a silk merchant in Amsterdam. He married Geertruyd Spiegel, daughter of Elbert Spiegel and Petronella Roeters, on 21 December 1655.
