John M. Lawrence (1787-1850) was a Surgeon in the Army during the War of 1812. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1810. University records indicate he was from New Jersey. The line of descent from Dr. Lawrence to the consignor is as follows:
Ruth Lea Fitch (1804-1893), wife of John M. Lawrence;
Gartman Klinefelter (Klinefelter's brother, Henry, was married to Ruth Lea Fitch's sister, Eliza Maybury Fitch (1806-1891);
Ella Rebecca Klinefelter (1866-1951), daughter who married W.T. Childs (1878-1945);
William Talbott Childs, Jr.,son;
His sons Robert Stuart Childs (1933-2004) and the consignor.
