AN ACOMA POLYCHROME JAR
with concave base and rounded body supporting a pair of handles on the shoulder, tapering inward to a tall neck terminating in a fluted, flaring rim, painted in orange and black on a creamy white slip, with an encircling frieze of stepped medallions, each enclosing checkered and triangular elements and set against a hatched ground, surmounted by narrow bands of triangles, with scrolling, feather and foliate motifs about the neck, serrated bands beneath the rim, orange underbody, inscribed on the base, XAC-14-PE, A29-387 and 1929.39
