AN ARMENIAN CHELABERD KAZAK RUG SOUTH CAUCASUS, CIRCA 1880 The shaded brick-red field with scattered motifs around a central radiating sunburst medallion enclosing a rosette centrepiece flanked at each end by hooked panels issuing rosettes, an Armenian inscription at one end, in an ivory crab-rosette border between zigzag and barber-pole stripes, a short kilim strip at each end, minute old repairs 7ft. x 4ft.7in. (213cm. x 140cm.)
