AN ART DECO JADEITE, ENAMEL, ONYX AND DIAMOND CIGARETTE CASE, BY LACLOCHE FRÉRES
The black enamel case, with a translucent, jadeite plaque with bright apple green inclusions, carved with a fairy scattering flowers from a basket, "xian nu san hua", to the rose-cut diamond and onyx corners, circa 1925
Signed by Lacloche Fréres
Case 79.75 x 56.2 x 14.5 mm.
The motif of a fairy scattering blossoms is one often depicted in paintings and much more rarely in jade carvings. It does not represent any particular rebus, but rather suggests the arrival of blessings from heaven.
