AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED EYE-CUP
ATTRIBUTED TO THE PAINTER OF MUNICH 2050, CIRCA 520-510 B.C.
Each side with Dionysos, a goddess or maenad, and Hermes standing between large eyes, the trio side-by-side and overlapping, each in profile to the right with Dionysos nearest, clad in a striped himation over a chiton, a fillet of leaves in his hair, holding his kantharos in his left hand (on one side), the female figure with a fillet of leaves in her hair (on one side), Hermes wearing a petasos and winged boots, vines in the field; vines and grapes around the handles, rays above the foot, black alternating with outlined, a gorgoneion in the tondo, details in added red and white
