Signed Uda Kunimitsu, Muromachi Period (15th century)
Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, iori mune, chu-kisakki, deep sakizori curve
Kitae [forging pattern]: flowing oitame with white utsuri over a darker steel with jifu
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha with variations, sujigaiba, yubashiri, nijuba of konie
Boshi [tip]: komaru with hakikake and nijuba
Horimono [carvings]: single koshihi on the omote, possibly atobori
Nakago [tang]: suriage with slightly curved kiri tip, five holes, on the omote katte sagari file marks by the signature, and no marks on the re-worked portion, on the ura kiri file marks along the whole of the re-worked tang
Koshirae [set of mounts]: dark vermilion nashiji lacquered scabbard, horn kashira, shakudo fuchi engraved with spiral grooves, the menuki of leafy vine tendrils pierced and carved in shakudo with gilt details, the kogai of yamagane with plants carved in high relief on a nanako ground with silver, copper, and old inlay, round tsuba of iron, carved with flowering prunus and woven fences, hilt wrapped with dark-pigmented samegawa, recently bound with dark blue leather matching the sageo.
