INDENTSecond Lieutenant Terence Donough O'Brien of Buxted, Sussex, born 1896, son of Brigadier General E.D.J. O'Brien C.B., educated at Winchester was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, 16th Lancers 15 August 1914 and proceeded to France 15 October where his Regiment suffered heavy losses in good service near Zillebeke February 1915. He joined the Royal Flying Corps as an Observer, September 1915 and Wykehamists Who Died in the Great War (Vol. IV) states. "He was killed in an air battle near Poperinghe 3 March, 1916" and is buried in Lüssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium; another source states that O'Brien was killed on landing on his return from a reconnaissance as an Observer.
