M.M. London Gazette 8.3.1945. Recommendation states 'On 30 August 1944, during the operations north of Pontassieve following the crossing of the River Arno, 'B' Company came under intense machine-gun fire from Point 534 and the lower slope of P. Cerrone. Sepoy Fateh Mohd immediately dashed forward to a trench containing four enemy and a Spandau. Before reaching the trench he was wounded and fell. Disregarding his wound, and the intense fire, he crawled forward and threw two hand grenades into the trench, killing one German and wounding two others. The fourth surrendered. By his conspicuous gallantry and example the position was finally captured and a further advance was made possible'.
