AN INCISED CELADON JAR WITH FOUR HANDLES
koryo dynasty (12th century)

Of well-proportioned maebyong form resting on a short foot and recessed base with wide mouth and four floret-and-loop handles applied at the shoulder, now restored, incised on four sides with a large lotus spray, incised below the mouth with a collar of yo'i-heads and above the foot with a narrow band of fretwork, covered by a rich green celadon glaze with high lustre, emerald flushes and sparse long crackle--9 3/8in. (23.8cm.) high, handles and neck restored
