The Pap Boat Collection
Pap boats were originally plain, shallow, feeding bowls with a lip at one side for infants and children which first appeared circa 1710. Early examples were plain, with later examples having reeded or moulded rims. Pap itself consists of a mixture of bread or flour, sugar and water or milk combined to form a tacky consistency. Sometimes used to administer medicines pap boats were also used in Quebec to hold water used for baptisms.
