The circular box and cover inlaid on the flat cover in white and black slip with two cranes and two cloud sprays, the bodies of the cranes rendered in white slip and the beaks and legs in black slip, the clouds in white slip, also incised on the rounded shoulder and edges where the top and bottom sections meet with three rows of short, vertical lines and covered overall with a bright green celadon glaze with irregular crackle, thicker and emerald at the shoulder, also glazed on the interior lid and well and in the slightly recessed base, two spur marks--3¾in. (9.6cm.) diameter, 1¾in. (4.5cm.) high, small chips to exterior and interior rims, broken section of rim reattached
