    AN ITALIAN SILVER OIL LAMP
    ROME, EARLY 19TH CENTURY

    Raised on a fluted column fragment supported by a square pedestal base, the stem forming the figure of Mercury supported by a putto's breath, holding above his head the circular lamp, the three wick holders issuing from classical masks, the finial formed as the child Hercules wrestling the snake, the helmet extinguisher, snuffers and pick joined by link chains, with wood base, marked on base--22in. (56cm.) high
