An ivory netsuke of a karashishi
18th and 19th Century
the recumbent beast carved with mouth slightly open and ferocious expression, with curly mane and tail hairwork -- 1 7/8in. (4.7cm.) wide; a stag-antler netsuke of a smiling man carrying a large sack -- 1½in. (3.8cm.) high; a wood netsuke of a karashishi standing facing the side, on a rectangular base -- 1 5/8in. (4.1cm.) wide; and another wood netsuke of a bird perched on rockwork -- 1 7/8in. (4.7cm.) high, (old wear).
