Unsigned (Kyoto or Osaka), Edo Period (Late 17th/Early 18th Century)
Katabori, stained ivory; a standing figure of a foreigner wearing a brimmed hat, a long, wide-sleeved coat and a long undergarment embroidered with clouds, holding his beard to the left with his right hand, the eyes inlaid in horn, the back slightly incurved, the himotoshi formed by a larger and a smaller hole in the middle of the back, the larger hole to the right of and below the smaller hole
