This bureau cabinet is a Tour de Force of native British woods combined to produce an aesthetically pleasing piece of furniture. The carcass is made of oak and the sides of the base is made of tangentially sawn oak, crossbanded in quarter sawn oak. The external doors and drawer fronts are veneered in burr brown oak and crossbanded with plumwood; this has faded on the external surfaces but internally the bright colour of the crossbanding is clear. Internally the drawer fronts are made from solid brown oak. The inlaid detail extends to the lopers and the bracket feet.
