Designed in 1934 by a Swiss designer called Kienzle, Jack and Molly Pritchard bought a set of these shelves from the Swiss firm, Wohnbedarf, at the beginning of October 1934. After establishing patent rights for their distribution in Britain, the bookshelves became the first product to be marketed by Isokon in 1936. They were sold in flat-pack format, each carton containing three oak or deal shelves with relevant metal connecting parts.
