    Lot Essay

    Kawachi no kami Kunisuke (d. 1647) was a native of Kameyama in Ise Province, who studied under Horikawa Kunihiro in Kyoto (Lot 3). He moved to Osaka, and his school continued after his son 'Naka Kawachi' (famous for his kobushi-gata, or 'fist-shaped' choji hamon) for a number of generations.
