Leipzig: List & Francke; Paris: Librairie Tross, 18 January 1869.
8o (218 x 140 mm). Contemporary half black morocco, original yellow wrappers preserved (some wear).
This highly important collection was particularly strong in early Americana and Mexican imprints. The collection was formed by the journalist and publisher Andrade in Mexico over a period of more than 40 years and destined to become the foundation of the Imperial Library of Mexico. This project came to a halt with the outbreak of the Mexican Revolution and the books were smuggled out of the country and eventually sold at auction in 1869. Complete with the printed results bound in at end. Loosely inserted is a letter by List & Francke from 1984 indicating that this copy was used to produce a photocopy for the bookseller's archives who did not own one.
