Lot Essay

The present works, executed in 1984, are studies for A Bridge, Race Gate, to be offered at Christie's, New York, May 25, 2000, lot 158. The view depicted here is the bridge over the Wyeth's race at the upper headgates in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

These watercolors will be included in Betsy James Wyeth's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's work.
