A Gentleman, facing left in striped black coat, white frilled lace jabot, short white-powdered wig
signed and dated 'Vestier 1786' (mid-right)
oval, 16 in. (37 mm.) high, silver-gilt mounted on a white Louis XVI carnet-de-bal with stamped gold mounts, the reverse with pierced gold motto 'SOUVENIR' and a medallion with scrolling gold monogram 'CCM' on a blue silk ground, under glass, inside tablets, the gold mounts with discharge mark of Henry Clavel, Paris, 1783-1789 (3.3/8 in. 86 mm. high)
