3 parts in one, 4o (245 x 180 mm). 22 color plates. (One leaf torn without loss, some off-setting.) Contemporary blue straight grained morocco, front cover with gilt title within gilt double fillet, flat spine gilt (rear hinge split). Provenance: John Ashburnham (inscribed to him by his brother on the front fly-leaf).
ILLUSTRATED DE LUXE COPY WITH THE 22 COLOR PLATES DEPICTING EXQUISITE BINDINGS. Each part complete with the printed list of results and buyers. This highly important collection comprised, amongst other bibliophile gems, no less than 24 Caxtons, two copies of the Gutenberg or Mazarine Bible (lot 436, one copy printed on vellum), a Biblia-Pauperum (lot 419) and a copy of the 1462 Bible (lot 437, printed on vellum). Without the "Books having been found imperfect", 13 December 1898.
