    Lot Essay

    After Tintoretto's picture San Rocco in Prison comforted by an Angel in the church of San Rocco, Venice. A less heavily washed version of almost identical size is in the Printroom of Leiden University, R. E. Jellema, M. Plomp, Episcopius, Jan de Bisschop (1628-1671), advocat en tekenaar, exhib. cat., Zwolle and Amsterdam, 1995, p. 46, no. 34, illustrated.
