The present work is possibly a bozzetto for the ceiling of the church of Saint Sebastian in Guardia Sanframondi, Benevento.
We are grateful to Prof. Nicola Spinosa for informimg us that he believes the present painting is by Francesco Solimena and datable to circa 1680-85 (verbal communication, 14 January 2004) after first hand inspection of the picture.
