John R. Talley retired from Coca Cola in May 1976 after a long and successful career of over 42 years.
He occupied various executive positions such as management of bottling plants in Canada and was appointed manager of the Southern European Division with headquarter in Milan after his service in the US Army during World War II. It was during this period that he received the present watch as reward for his accomplishments.
In 1956, John Talley became vice president and manager of the Mediterranean and Middle East section based in Rome. The Italian government granted him in 1960 the title "Grande Ufficiale" of the order of Merit, one of the highest honors to be awarded to industrial leaders or other prominence.
Upon his return to the US he pursued his career in different positions within the company's export division, including executive vice president, president and director. In 1973, Mr. Talley was appointed Chairman of the board of the Export Corporation, a position he held until his retirement in May 1976.
