(Variable spotting, mainly light, some light offsetting, small flaws on a few leaves slightly affecting text, clean tears slightly affecting text on volume III, D12 and I2, that on D12 skilfully repaired, lacking final blank volume II, O4 and advertisement leaf volume III, O4.) 20th-century crimson crushed morocco gilt by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, double gilt fillet borders on covers, board edges and turn-ins gilt, the spines gilt in 6 compartments divided by raised bands, titled in gilt in 2, the others decorated with central gilt tools within gilt frames with gilt foliate corner-pieces, gilt edges. Provenance: partially erased early inscriptions on margins of titles.
