12 volumes, 8° (230 x 135mm). Half-titles and titles printed in red and black. Photogravure portrait frontispiece after Cassandra Austen. (Scattered light spotting). Contemporary dark-blue half calf gilt in the romantique style, the flat spines divided into 6 compartments by raised bands, the bands gilt with 3 fillets terminating in ornaments, titled in 2 compartments and dated at the foot, top edges gilt (spines lightly faded, occasional light rubbing or scuffing on the extremities).
A reissue of the Winchester edition of 1898, with the addition of two volumes of Letters, attractively bound in an early nineteenth century style. Cf. Gilson E91. (12)
